According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Morris Chestnut has joined Scott Peters' pilot for the new "V", although at this point there's a bit of confusion over which part he's actually playing. As reported by the trade, Chestnut plays the "boyfriend" of Homeland Security Agent Erica Evans. Problem is that by all reports a boyfriend is not part of the equation at this point. States the Reporter, "Chestnut will play the woman's boyfriend, who has a dark secret -- he is a Visitor."
Part of the confusion comes from the fact that another character, named Ryan, who is involved with a woman named Valerie, has been described as someone with a "dark secret." If it turns out that Ryan's secret is that he's a Visitor, he would seem to be an alien who is actually a human sympathizer, ala Willie (Robert Englund) or Martin (Frank Ashmore) from the original '80s version. However, Erica also has a partner in Homeland Security named Dale Maddox, who is carrying a few dark secrets of his own. Clarification will no doubt be coming soon.
One thing we do know is that Morris Chestnut was born on January 1, 1969 in Cerritos, California. His credits include Breakin' All the Rules, Anaconda: The Hunt For the Blood Orchid and Ladder 49 in 2004, The Cave in 2005, The Game Plan and The Perfect Holiday in 2007, and Not Easily Broken in 2009.
