Welcome to the Planet of the Apes
Welcome to the Planet of the Apes
TOP STORY: Planet of the Apes was my Star Wars.
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, I lived for POTA, impatiently waiting for each new sequel, excited when they started airing on CBS, blown away by the "Go Ape" campaign in which we had the opportunity to go to an Apes festival of all five films, optimistically waited for and watched Tim Burton's 2001 remake and now find my excitement building again with Rise of the Apes, using a remake of the fourth film in the series, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, as a launching off point for a new reimagination of the whole thing) is now in production. All of this, of course, has resulted in the creation of this site, which is actually something I've wanted to do ever since I co-wrote the 2001 history of the saga, Planet of the Apes Revisited, with Joe Russo and Larry Landsman. On the one hand it's amazing to be talking about POTA 42 years from the release of the original, but on the other it's never really left my imagination. Now everybody Go Ape! -- Edward Gross
