Vanessa the Vampire Slayer?

Vanessa Hudgens starring in the in-development big screen version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer? That's the...er.. scoop according to Hollyscoop — or at least it would have been if Vanessa had accepted the part.
Writes the blog, "Vanessa Hudgens has made it clear that she wants to expand on her acting career which means she doesn't want to be known as the girl in High School Musical for the rest of her life. But it seems like she also doesn't wanna be known as a vampire either. Rumor has it that Vanessa turned down the chance to bring back Buffy the Vampire Slayer back to the big screen again...Producers who were working with Sarah Michelle Gellar to make the hit TV show into a movie reportedly approached Vanessa for the starring role, but she wasn't interested.

“She felt that with Twlight still so massive Buffy would not be the best option right now,” says one source. "The idea was to have Sarah back but with Vanessa as a fresh, new character. The project has been shelved for now.”

This, of course, is the Buffy project being done without Joss Whedon, and produced by the people who had handled the original big screen version.

Next year Hudgens will be seen in Beastly and Sucker Punch.

Yeah, this is a TERRIBLE idea! If they're going to make a movie, have Joss Whedon write and direct it and bring aboard Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz to do it right.

Yes, that what i have been saying for months since they announced it.

Have you really run across anybody who thinks it's a good idea?

Not a single person, even the old cast and crew dont like it.

Without Joss Whedon? Are you joking? They would really stoop so low as to scorn the Buffy-verse with a cheap gimmicky movie just because vampires are trendy and have to be done 50 times? Gross...don't do it Sarah!

They're just trying to pull the tweens in. [frick] that. Only way this will be any good is if Whedon writes and directs, and they bring back the original cast... Well, the few that are left after the Buffy and Angel finales.

To be honest, I kind of do wish it was a remake just so they could bring back the great characters that died :(

no there not, even the good vampires (angel, then later spike) were not the whiny pussies you see in twilight. why would they not have josh but sarah gellar? i know she is hard up for work, and im ok with making a movie from the series like they did with x-files and sex and the city, but not a remake of the original series. which makes gellars involvement all the more confusing.
