Michael Cera to play Scott Pilgrim
One of the hit independent comic books of late has been the Oni Press Scott Pilgrim’s Precious Little Life. Michael Cera, best known for his roles in Arrested Development and Juno, looks set to play the lead.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Michael Cera “is in final negotiations” to fill the starring role of a Scott Pilgrim film adaptation. Being directed by Edgar Wright, the adventure romance tells the story of 23 year old Canadian Scott Pilgrim, slacker, wannabe-rockstar, who falls in love with Ramona V. Flowers. However, to date her, he must first defeat her seven “evil exes.”
The graphic novel was written by Bryan Lee O’Malley, and published by independent comic publishing house Oni Press. The screenplay has been written by Michael Bacall and Wright. According IMDB, the film is set to be released 2009, but the real date is anybody’s guess.
