Sam Raimi Heading to Hell

Sam Raimi will return to the horror genre by directing Drag Me to Hell which he wrote with his brother Ivan Raimi.
"Drag Me to Hell" is being described as a supernatural thriller, a morality story involving a supernatural curse. Production is expected begin early next year.

With Sam Raimi in the directors chair, he and partner Rob Tapert will produce and finance it through Ghost House. In fact this film is the first directing project for Sam with Ghost House, previously he only served as the Executive Producer on films.

Sam and Ivan Raimi actually wrote the story after working on "Army of Darkness" and then it was previously titled "The Curse".

Rob Tapert helps to describe the film; "Sam calls it a 'spook-a-blast,' a wild ride with all the chills and spills that 'Evil Dead' delivered, without relying on the excessive violence of that film,"

"The appeal to Sam on 'Drag Me to Hell' was returning to what he had once done and loved doing, which was entertaining a very specific group of fans and providing a roller coaster ride for them," Tapert said. "He doesn't have the enormous pressure here that goes with handling a hundreds of millions of dollars franchise."
