Comic Book History

Who is RIPTIDE?
RIPTIDE is Janos Quested a Marvel Comics supervillain appearing mostly in X-Men books. He is a member of the Marauders and has the power to spin at superhuman speeds, shooting sharp objects out of his tornado-like body at his enemies. RIPTIDE was created by Chris Claremont, John Romita, Jr., and Dan Green.
First Appearance

RIPTIDE started his comicbook career as a member of Gambit's Marauders, a team requested to be brought together by the villainous Mister Sinister.

RIPTIDE was part of the Marauders that Mr. Sinister dispatched into the sewers under New York City to kill the subterranean mutant collective known as the Morlocks.

RIPTIDE was responsible for severely injuring X-Men members Nightcrawler and Colossus.

Having seen the results of RIPTIDE's actions, Colossus had been pushed close to his emotional breaking point and later finally snapped. Colossus faced off with RIPTIDE who believed that his power could fall the metal giant mutant. Colossus being hit by a deluge of blade thrown out by RIPTIDE, which penetrated the other mutant’s armored skin, Colossus then, managed to reach an incredulous RIPTIDE, seize his throat, and snap his neck.

RIPTIDE along with many of the dead Marauders was cloned by Mr. Sinister. This new group later attacked the “proactive empath” mutant Threnody but was defeated by Nate Grey, the mutant known as X-Man.

RIPTIDE was one of the mutants who retained his mutant abilities during the vast depowerment of mutants in the event known as "M-Day". RIPTIDE still part of the Marauders, had another clashing with the X-Men.

During the storyline "Messiah Complex", he is part of the final battle on Muir Isle. He seems to be aware of the fact his neck had been broken before

Aside from his neck, RIPTIDE does not have any big break yet on any comicbook storyline. :)

CBM FIGHT CLUB CHALLENGE

Message to the CBM community:
To those who are making requests, check first [here] because I might have done an article on the character already. If I have not please be patient, I will get on it as soon as possible (but consider the fact that I spend hours writing one of these articles). Try to limit your request to characters that already have been adapted to live media, so that the feature will at least be relevant to the site – Comic Book Movie(though I include TV characters). Characters in Manga or Anime’, I am not particularly familiar of, I am not discounting these characters but it will probably take some time before I write a feature on them because I have to read up on these characters. Thank you for reading these articles! If there are errors on the feature article above, blame it on my age, humanity and ignorance. Just be sure to check the comment section for the corrections, any error I made will surely be pointed out and corrected by much bigger geeks (because there will always be a bigger geek out there). -This has been PollMaster inviting you to the geekside. MABUHAY CBM and Godspeed!
