Iron Man Crushes Speed Racer’s Opening

Iron Man’s second weekend take of $50M leaves Speed Racer’s $20M opening in the dust!

According to Movies.com, Iron Man earned an estimated $50.5 million domestically over Mother’s Day weekend, more than double the opening sales figures for Andy and Larry (The Matrix Trilogy) Wachowski’s Speed Racer, which only brought in $20.2 million.

Iron Man stars Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Gwyneth Paltrow as Virginia “Pepper” Potts, Terrence Howard as James "Rhodey" Rhodes and Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stane/Iron Monger, with appearances by Hillary Swank and Stan “The Man” Lee.
