Ian Fleming's Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Flies Again in New Book Series

The Ian Fleming Estate has announced that the late author's novel, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (already the subject of a 1968 film and stage musical) will be continued in a new series of stories written by Frank Cottrell Boyce.
In an interview with Liverpool's Daily Post, Cottrell Boyce reflected on the film version, "I remember the moment Chitty drove off the edge of the cliff and the whole building rang with howls, first of fear and then frustration as the image froze and 'intermission' blazed across the screen. Even now, whenever I come across a really heart-stopping moment in a script or a story, I always think of it as a 'Chitty falls off the cliff' moment."

In the new book -- Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Flies Again -- a new family named the Tootings find themselves involved with the famous car.

"My story is about a modern family doing up their old VW camper van," noted the author. "They come across this engine in a scrapyard and they cannot resist it, so they put this massive racing engine in their camper van. By the end of the first book, their camper van mutates into the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang which you know."
