REPOSTED: Exclusive Audio Interview with Director Chris Columbus on Percy Jackson & More

UPDATE: With Percy Jackson being issued on Blu-ray and DVD, Earth's Mightiest is reposting this multi-part audio interview with director Chris Columbus, who discusses the film and other aspects of his career.
In his first two years in Hollywood, then writer Chris Columbus, working for Steven Spielberg's Amblin', wrote the scripts for Gremlins, Goonies and Young Sherlock Holmes. Flash forward to today and his credits include Home Alone, Harry Potter and, currently, Percy Jackson. Not bad, huh?

In the first part of his interview with Earths Mightiest Editor Edward Gross, Columbus talks briefly about those Amblin' Days, his thoughts on his first three efforts and the similarities between Young Sherlock Homes and Harry Potter.

In the second part of the conversation, he discusses the making of Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, as well as his love for comic book superheroes.

What fans may not realize is that Columbus has actually been involved in the superhero genre, though his efforts haven't made it to the screen. In the third part of this interview, he not only discusses the challenges of Percy Jackson, but reveals his connection to movie versions of Daredevil, the Fantastic Four and Spider-Man, the latter of which he came THIS close to directing before choosing to do Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.

In the final part of this interview, Columbus reveals his involvement, along with the late Stan Winston, on the remake of Planet of the Apes; as well as the legacy of the Harry Potter film series.
