NBC Interested in Modern Day Frankenstein

According to Variety, House executive producers Russel Friend and Garrett Lerner (whose previous credits include Martial Law, Smallville, Roswell and Boston Public) have interested NBC in a modern day, dramatic version of Frankenstein.
Although the story doesn't specify, one has to imagine that this will be for the pilot of a continuing series rather than an adaptation of the novel.

Notes the story, "House is coming up on its eighth and likely final season given Fox has signaled it has no intent of going any further, though UMS has the option to shop it elsewhere UMS is a logical home for a Frankenstein revival given Universal Studios owns the intellectual property to classic movie monsters including Dracula, Wolfman and The Mummy."

I could see this being interesting out of the gate, but losing steam three episodes in. And since the novel ends with the death of every one of the principle characters, there's not much to build towards. I anticipate a whole lot of decompression, and a moody-eyed doctor staring into the distance in the midst of some pretty basic relationship drama tropes.
