Stephen King's Carrie to Be Remade by MGM and Screen Gems

Stephen King's Carrie, which has already appeared in several incarnations (though most famously in Brian DePalma's 1976 film) is going to be remade by MGM and Screen Gems.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the screenplay is going to be written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who recently penned the reworked version of Broadway's Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark and is a writer for Marvel Comics.

Says THR, "The book, which was King’s first published work, centered on Carrie, a sheltered and shy high schooler who develops telekinetic powers and unleashes them when pushed too far during her prom. The book was famously adapted into a 1976 Brian DePalma movie starring Sissy Spacek, Piper Laurie and John Travolta. There was also a stage musical, a forgettable 1999 sequel (called Carrie 2: The Rage) and a 2002 TV movie."
