David Goyer to Write "Man of Steel"

Latino Review claims that screenwriter David Goyer has been brought in to write the next Superman movie, which will reportedly be simply titled "Man of Steel." Thisjust may explain why Goyer so abruptly stepped away from showrunning duties over at ABC's FlashForward.
According to the site, Thomas Tull, of Legendary Pictures (which co-financed Superman Returns) approached Goyer about it and the writer supposedly came back with a concept that "actually takes the movies back to the John Byrne incarnation: Modern. Believable. FUN!"

This concept was apparently so strong that it got Goyer hired for the job. Neither Superman Returns director Bryan Singer or actor Brandon Routh are expected to return, and as for plot, the story is reported to "involve Luthor and Brainiac. It is NOT an origin and assumes audiences already know about Lois, Clark, Jimmy and Perry. I know the Daily Planet is struggling due to the Internet and I know it sets up a huge Kryptonian mythology."

Frankly, it's recommended that this news be greeted with a grain of salt. Just a couple of weeks ago Nikki Finke broke that Christopher Nolan was supposed to be "godfathering" the next Superman, but Warners' Diane Nelson declared that that simply wasn't the case. But, hopefully, Man of Steel will become a reality.
