BULLSEYE: Sharpshooter

"my plans are based on my infallible aim--and my unique ability to turn anything into a most potent weapon."
--BULLSEYE

Who is BULLSEYE?
BULLSEYE's real name is unknown but he does go with the name Lester, he is a Marvel Comics supervillain. A psychopathic assassin, BULLSEYE uses the opportunities afforded by his line of work to exercise his homicidal tendencies and to work out his own personal vendetta against Daredevil. Although he possesses no superpowers, BULLSEYE is able to use almost any object as a lethal projectile, His aim is uncanny, at a nearly preternatural level. He first appeared in Daredevil #131 (March 1976).
First Appearance

The man who will be known as BULLSEYE grew up in The Bronx. He lived with his brother and his abusive father. His brother's main form of recreation was playing with rifles, leading BULLSEYE to become an expert shot. When he was 10 years old, his brother started a fire in their home in an unsuccessful attempt to kill their father. Shortly thereafter, BULLSEYE was placed in a foster home, and became a baseball player in high school. BULLSEYE was an extremely talented pitcher, and was offered a scholarship, but instead opted to enter the minor leagues. After three games, he was called up to play a sold-out Major League game. He had surrendered no hits the entire game, and in the bottom of the ninth with two outs, he became bored and requested the coach pull him from the game. The coach refused, and insisted that he finish the game. The opposing team's batter mocked him, accusing him of cowardice. BULLSEYE threw the ball at his head, killing him. As the ball struck, he said only one word: "BULLSEYE". He was barred from professional baseball and convicted of manslaughter. BULLSEYE's Greatest Hits (2004)

BULLSEYE later worked as a special operative of the United States National Security Agency, then soon after as a freelance assassin-- a perfect career for someone who got so much pleasure from the killing of his enemies. He created his signature modus operandi of using thrown weapons during one of his first outings as a soldier -- a guerrilla fighter got the drop on him and BULLSEYE’s weapon failed to shoot. He threw the gun instead, killing his assailant with his bayonet.

BULLSEYE is mainly a Daredevil antagonist. BULLSEYE is established early on as insane, and begins degenerating further when a brain tumor creates hallucinations that everyone he meets is Daredevil. He begins killing random people under the belief that he is killing his nemesis. (Daredevil #169)

BULLSEYE later worked as the Kingpin's chief assassin, but his sanity is still in question.

Learning Daredevil’s secret identity BULLSEYE hoped to capitalize on the information and kill Daredevil both for his own satisfaction and to help the Kingpin’s struggling criminal empire. He targeted Murdock and his new girlfriend, Millie Donovan, but Daredevil snapped, beating BULLSEYE to a pulp and carving a bulls-eye pattern onto his forehead with a rock(Daredevil Vol. 2 #49). This made his look match the movie version.

After the Super-Human Registration Act, several villains were captured and offered a chance to redeem themselves by hunting down heroes and villains not in compliance with the Registration. BULLSEYE became part of a new team of Thunderbolts. Like other members, BULLSEYE has a safe-fail implanted in him, so if they go out of line, the device can be activated, electrocuting the user. (Civil War #4)

When Norman Osborn rose to power after the events of the Skrull Invasion he offered BULLSEYE to be part of his Dark AVENGERS, to impersonate the hero Hawkeye.(Dark AVENGERS #1)

After the event of the Siege of Asgard, Osborn's villainy was revealed and Dark AVENGERS were disassembled and BULLSEYE was captured. However while in transport to his prison, he escaped. He then seeks out his old nemesis Daredevil in Hell's Kitchen, who is now leading the ninja clan known as the Hand. BULLSEYE made short work of Daredevil's ninjas. Daredevil then joined the fight and completely dominates BULLSEYE breaking both of his arms. When the fight is over, Daredevil killed BULLSEYE the same way BULLSEYE killed Elektra years ago.

However, death will not stop this character, and we know that eventually we will see him with his maniacal grin once more. Here is a peek on how BULLSEYE's mind works.

LIVE APPEARANCES
COLIN FARRELL
Actor Colin Farrell portrayed BULLSEYE in the Daredevil film adaptation. In the movie, BULLSEYE has an Irish background, and his traditional costume was dropped in favor of a biker/metalhead style appearance: a reptile-skin duster, leather pants, black tank top, dark goatee, tattoos, multiple earrings, and a shaved head with a bull's-eye branding on his forehead, although he does jokingly request a costume from Kingpin. He is one of the main antagonists in the film.

POWERS & ABILITIES
Note: Due to the nature of comicbooks being an on-going tale, the character's powers along with his appearance, is in a constant state of flux.

Durability: BULLSEYE has had strips of adamantium fused to his skeleton and spine, making his bones virtually indestructible.

Abilities
Olympic Physical Conditioning: Lester is an Olympic-level athlete and weightlifter. He is in overall exceptional physical condition, with the agility, reflexes, stamina, and speed of a professional or Olympic athlete.

Skilled Acrobat: He is a skilled acrobat capable of performing many difficult feats and matching the feats of the finest human acrobats.

Expert Marksman: Lester's innate ability to throw any projectile with great unerring accuracy and deadliness borders on the uncanny. His uncanny ability to use virtually any common object as a lethal projectile actually makes him more dangerous than many characters that do have superhuman powers. Although he is not technically superhuman, BULLSEYE can accomplish many feats with thrown projectiles. He has demonstrated the ability to lacerate a person's throat with a thrown playing card, spit his own tooth through a human skull, tosses a paper airplane to a distant rooftop, and kills a person with a toothpick thrown through a window from a hundred yards away. He is also a dangerous sharpshooter.

Expert Assassin: He knows every pressure point and vulnerable spot on the human body and is able to turn virtually any object into a deadly weapon capable of incapacitating or killing an enemy. Lester is a deadly assassin often hired by the likes of the Kingpin for covert assassinations.

Master Martial Artist: Aside from his ability to throw projectiles with lethal accuracy, BULLSEYE is also a master of many martial arts disciplines and is extremely talented in the use of edged weapons and conventional firearms. Often, his outspoken attitude during combat about using his abilities seems to have become one of his favorite weapons - intimidation. As such, he believes that his attention in the media grants him more effectiveness in combat with a near flawless reputation, rather than an assassin who often uses fear of the unknown.

Weapons Proficiency: Because of his naturally perfect athletic gift for hand-eye coordination, Lester can quickly learn how to wield most weapons even if he has never seen them before. Aside from throwing projectiles, he is also skilled with knives, swords, and other weapons.

CBM FIGHT CLUB CHALLENGE

Message to the CBM community: To those who are making requests, check first [here] because I might have done an article on the character already. If I have not please be patient, I will get on it as soon as possible (but consider the fact that I spend hours writing one of these articles). Try to limit your request to characters that already have been adapted to live media, so that the feature will at least be relevant to the site – Comic Book Movie(though I include TV characters). Characters in Manga or Anime’, I am not particularly familiar of, I am not discounting these characters but it will probably take some time before I write a feature on them because I have to read up on these characters. Thank you for reading these articles! If there are errors on the feature article above, blame it on my age, humanity and ignorance. Just be sure to check the comment section for the corrections, any error I made will surely be pointed out and corrected by much bigger geeks (because there will always be a bigger geek out there). -This has been PollMaster inviting you to the geekside. MABUHAY CBM and Godspeed!
