TOP STORY: Alien Nation may have been born as a feature film written by Farscape creator Rockne O'Bannon, but the concept truly came into its own when adapted for television by writer/director/producer Kenneth Johnson. Now it's being reimagined by Tim Minear for the SciFi Channel. Designed as an indictment of racial intolerance, the premise has an alien ship arriving on earth, containing 250,000 Tenctonese (or "Newcomers") who have spent their lives as slaves, but are now assimilated into American society. At the core of the concept is the pairing of bigoted human cop Matthew Sykes (Sikes on the TV show) and Tenctonese officer San (on the TV show George) Francisco, the prism through which we're able to look at our own culture. The purpose of this site is to look at Alien Nation through its various incarnations as a film, TV series, TV movies, novels, comic books and, of course, the new TV version.
