InstigatorGIRL's Rant & Review of "The Men Who Stare At Goats"

Because the latest advertisement on EMF is "The Men Who Stare At Goats" I thought I could give my review of the flick.
I saw this flick in the theatre months ago. Needless to say I was sort of dragged to this movie but overall I must say it was great. Very entertaining. The opening scene shows Stephen Lang (many know him from Avatar) concentrating on the wall ahead of him then he gets up and announces, "I'm going into the next office." Then he runs full speed into the wall and BAM! He hits it and falls to the ground. Then he looks up disappointed and whispers, "Damn." Now What makes this even better to me is right after that text appears on the screen stating, "You'll be surprised how much of this is actually true."

So the story is narrated by a man named Bob (Ewan McGregor) who is a reporter. Basically his life is going to hell so he decides I'm gonna go and find a story in Iraq. This is happening right when the Iraq War has started. While waiting to cross the border he meets Lyn (George Clooney) who is a retired "Jedi" of the Army. Lyn begins to tell Bob about his time in the Army training to be a "Jedi Master." Which leads to Bob deciding that Lyn's story was HIS story so he starts trekking on a journey across the border and into dangerous territory just to get the whole story from him. During their time together Lyn begins to teach Bob the ways of the "Jedi."

The humor in this movie was fantastic especially with a particluar scene in this movie involving an army base, powdered eggs, and LSD... and when you see some of the training that the "Jedis" went through you can't help but laugh. Also, as a Star Wars fan, I found it funny the times when Lyn would tell Bob (Ewan McGregor) he could be a Jedi Master. What would have made it epic to me was if Bob's name was "Ben." The acting wasn't horrendous either. The lines were delivered smoothly and George and Ewan and Jeff Bridges interacted really well in scenes together. This movie was an instant favorite of mine. I can't wait to buy it and I recommend it to anyone looking for some good entertainment.
