'DAY OF THE DEAD' Remake Hits DVD In April

After production delays and theatrical release announcements, the remake of George Romero's zombie classic has gotten a DVD debut date.

First Look Pictures's remake of Day of the Dead, directed by Steve Miner (Halloween H20), finally comes to DVD on April 8, 2008. This definite date ends a series of delays that have retarded the horror film's release.

Way back in June, writer Jeffrey Reddick talked to Arrowinthehead about the delays in wrapping production on the new version of George Romero's classic zombie flick.

"I'm not sure when the movie's coming out," Reddick said. "I know they're doing some reshoots very soon. I'm doing the re-writing...for the most part. Steve [Miner] does like to write sometimes, too, though."

The original picture followed a group of scientists and military personnel who'd taken refuge in a bunker beneath an Earth overrun with lumbering flesheaters. The re-do stars Ving Rhames, Mena Suvari, Nick Cannon and Christa Campbell.

The 87-minute Day of the Dead DVD is available for pre-order at Amazon. The current price is $19.99.
