DreamWorks and Spielberg Nab GHOST IN THE SHELL

"Ghost in the Shell," created by Masamune Shirow, was first published in 1989. The series lead to additional manga books, three anime films, a TV series and video games. DreamWorks released "Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence," in the U.S. in 2004.

The story involves a member of a covert ops unit of the Japanese National Public Safety Commission fighting technology-related crime.

Steven Spielberg is very passionate about "Ghost in the Shell," and he has been very involved in bringing it to took DreamWorks.

" 'Ghost in the Shell' is one of my favorite stories," Spielberg said. "It's a genre that has arrived, and we enthusiastically welcome it to DreamWorks."

Jamie Moss (Street Kings) has been attached as writer for the adaptation.
